Special Session 2

NANOCATALYSIS (SS2)

The ‘NanoCatalysis’ special session will cover many important topics of the heterogeneous catalysis. The session will show the most relevant results for such topics and will review the current state of knowledge about the functional surfaces and nanostructured materials in catalysis. Moreover, it will present novel applications and current challenges and opportunities in this strategic field. In particular, in agreement with the EU GREEN DEAL and the needs rising from the dramatic events caused by the climate changes, a special focus will be devoted to the environmental catalysis, the catalytic abatement of the greenhouse gas emissions, catalytic processes for increasing the use of energy coming from renewable sources as well as for improve the energy efficiency of industrial processes lowering the CO2 emissions. Indeed, the heterogeneous catalysis is playing a crucial role (and this will be more and more true in the future) for the development of a sustainable world through, for instance, a circular energy system centred on energy efficiency. Finally, it is now well recognized that heterogeneous catalysis will be essential for safeguarding the environment on which the survival of the life of all species on the Earth will depend.

We do hope that this Special Session will promote the interactions, with e synergistic effect, of scientists having either similar or different expertise and belonging to Accademia, Industry, public or private Research Institutions. The NanoCatalysis special session will be aimed to acting as a hub for developing new projects and ideas encouraging the attendants to find international partners to be involved in innovative research proposals for national, international and EU Projects.
